(Stay tuned for coverage of the National Memorial Day Parade, Part I. We are working our way back to the beginning.)

Joshua narrates:

What's in a parade?

We saw lots of marching bands...

We even saw the Statue of Liberty...

...and one of three surviving World War I veterans.
(The gentleman in the white jacket seated in the front seat of the car.)
He is 106 years old! Wow!! How special that we got to wave to him!

My baby brother David had to take a mid-parade nap...

Remembering Iwo Jima

These guys were pretty impressive. At first we weren't sure if they were real!

Diversions

Toward the end of the parade I started to get a little bored now and then.

I was glad when I found a friend!

Our Troops

These brave soldiers really knew how to march!
We all thought the uniforms with the white pants were the best-looking.
But we're thankful for all of them!

Here they come!

Here is my Uncle Luke. He lifted me up high so I could see the fire trucks coming!

Oh, yeah...

One of my favorite parts was at the end of the parade when the fire trucks came rolling by,
along with an ambulance and some police cars. Woo-woo-woo!

Busy, Busy Town

Just like in my Richard Scarry book, we saw street sweepers, garbage men, and trucks that washed the roads.
We even saw this man taking down the flags!

Zonked

Finally, we collapsed exhausted into our stroller. What a day to remember!
